Cooling towers are used to dispose of ("reject") unwanted heat from a chiller. These units are also used for HVAC, in which the cooling tower is paired with a water-cooled chiller or water-cooled condenser.
Cooling towers are also used in HVAC systems that have multiple water source heat pumps that share a common piping water loop. In this type of system, the water circulating inside the water loop removes heat from the condenser of the heat pumps whenever the heat pumps are working in the cooling mode. Then the externally mounted cooling tower is used to remove heat from the water loop and reject the heat into the atmosphere.
Industrial cooling towers are typically used to remove heat from various sources, such as machinery or heated process material. Generally, industrial cooling towers are much larger than HVAC towers.
Macomb Mechanical regularly services and installs many types of cooling towers, servicing both HVAC and industrial systems. These include dry cooling towers, wet cooling towers, and fluid cooling towers.
We have technical staff available to diagnose system problems, as well as system design for new or replacement projects. Contact us today for more information about our cooling tower services.
