An Early Suppression Fast Response (ESFR) system is typically installed in high piled storage areas and aims to extinguish fires completely, as opposed to merely controlling the fire until emergency response units arrive. ESFR systems target the fire area directly and quickly discharge large amounts of water in the form of large water droplets. The larger droplets and faster release cause the water to fall with greater momentum than conventional sprinkler discharge and can be used in areas with ceilings up to 45 feet high and storage racks up to 40 feet high.
