Deluge Sprinklers

Deluge fire suppression systems discharge a large amount of water at once. The system is configured with sprinkler heads that are open at all times, and the water is held back by a mechanical deluge valve. Because the heads are open and, therefore, the automatic sprinkler sensors are absent or deactivated, a separate detection device is used and connected to the deluge valve. Once the valve is released, the water enters the piping and pours through all heads simultaneously, and the valve does not reseal automatically. This type of system is typically implemented in areas where rapid fire spreading is a concern such as airplane hangars and chemical storage areas.
